The work below is by the Graffiti artist Banksy. The girl is holding an umbrella to keep out the rain but instead the umbrella is causing the rain.

The contrast of this picture could be soft or sron soft beacase the dark red against a little of the black. It could also be strong because th dark red over the white or the black over the white. he emphasis in this picture is the little girl. the little girl is the emphasis because she is in the middle of the picture an if you close your eyes for a couple seconds when you open them your eyes move rigt to the little girl.
The graffiti has a soft contrast because the red colors do not jump right out at you but the black agenst the white is a strong contrast. If you close your eyes for a second you eye goes right to the little girl and it pops out at you.
Contrast is used in this work of Graffiti by Banksy through his use of color. The black of the girl's dress, hair, and the bottom of her umbrella and the rain pouring from it, against her white skin and white color of the top of the umbrella, and the white colored details such as the collar on her dress, create a strong contrast. There is also a contrast in that this beautiful piece of art was done on a dingy looking wall on a dirty, forgotten looking, street corner. The emphasis of this piece is the little girl, although the picture wouldn't be as powerful, or convey the same message if the umbrella and rain wasn't there, the girl is the focal point of the piece, she's what you look at first before you notice what's around her, and decide what you think the artist is trying to say with this piece. For me, the rain pouring from the umbrella; the thing that is meant to protect you from the rain is exactly what is causing it shows that what's meant to protect us, what we undoubtedly trust could be just the thing that's hurting us. That maybe in this world we really are alone, and there is no "umbrella" that can protect us from all of life's' miseries. Even when we turn a blind eye to injustice, it still happens, we just refuse to accept it. We look, but we don't see. Maybe nothing and no one can protect us from the horrors of life, maybe we shouldn't want them to, because they wouldn't only block out the rain, they'd block out the sun that follows too.
In this graffiti contrast is strong because the background is a light greyish white and the art is black and dark red. The are not close on the colors. The emphasis of the artwork is the girl. I think its because she is the largest thing in the painting. I also think its becaise she is also the darkest thing in the graffiti.
contrast in the graffiti show because of the red and black in the art . and emphasis shows in the graffiti because of how the first thing i notice is the little girl with the unbrella.
