Hello 8th Grade,
Which of these paintings do you like the most? Explain why you like one more than the other. Yes, you must make a choice.
Due Monday, March 16th.
I prefer Starry Night because of the artist's use of color. It gives the sky a really cool look. and I enjoy landscapes more than portraits. But Starry night is much better than the Mona Lisa in my opinion.
I prefer "Starry Night". The painting shows how the stars are alive while those in the village are asleep. The artist used value to create a beautiful contrast between the dark, quiet village and the big, bright stars. The yellow against the shades of blue really pop because they compliment each other. Overall I think this is a beautiful piece.
I prefer starry night because of the movement of the piece. When I first look at the piece I’m really drawn towards the sky and the balance in that. Then I see the rock structure and work my way down from there to the small town at the bottom of the piece. With the movement of the piece I really didn’t see the town at first.
I like "Starry Night" better because of the colors and image. Van Gogh used brighter paints that contrasted with each other where as Da Vinci used colors that blended with each other. The image in "Starry Night" also seemed more appealing than "Mona Lisa".
Emily said... I like Starry Night, because of the bright colors against the dark background. The Mona Lisa is just dark plain colors. I also like how the Starry Night is not just a straight background, it has a swirl effect.

I prefer Starry Night because I enjoy the contrasting colors in the sky. I also enjoy the swirling movement within the sky.
I prefer starry night because of the almost abstract feel but it looks like it has a purpose. I also like the color scheme.
I prefer the starry night, because I like the paniting style, and the painting seams very balanced and peaceful.
