Klimt and Unity

Hello students,
Take a look at this painting by Gustav Klimt. He has done several things to unify this painting. Tell me 2 things that create Unity in the painting with evidence. This is due Friday, April 3. This painting has been called "The Lady in Gold". It will be the subject of a movie starring Helen Mirren due for release in April or May. This painting was stolen by the Nazis and was eventually returned to the family after a long court battle.

2 things that unified this painting are the gold color used, and the shapes on and around the person.

the two things I saw was the dominate color is the gold used throughout the painting and the use of triangles throughout the peace.

The main way the artist uses unity in his painting was the fact that the whole thing is gold. He uses a a fair variety of colors, but the main one was gold. No matter who looks at this painting, their first thought will be that the main color is gold. Another way the artist creates unity is his use of geometric shapes. The slim part of the lady's dress is made up of different types of triangles, and the larger outer part contains squares. "The Lady in Gold" is a very unifying painting

One thing the artist does to unify the piece is using the same general color scheme. The majority of this piece is various shades of yellow/gold. Another thing Klimt does to tie the piece together is using the same shapes n the same place. Such as around the woman's shoulders there is an area of circles and an area of squares.

The first way that Klimt uses unity is how he uses a common color. Because of the constant gold it ties the patterns in the dress and the solids around her together. Another use of unity is the different patterns themselves. The artist used 6+ different patterns in the area surrounding the lady. Tieing her into the rest of the painting.

One way Kilmt shows unity in this piece is with the dominate gold color throughout painting. Another detail used to unify this painting is the geometric shapes on and around the dress.
