First Blog- Unity and Pattern

This is the second most recognized artwork in the world, Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night. Tell me what the artist did to UNIFY the artwork with specific details. Also, how has Van Gogh used PATTERN? Tell me with specific details. Homework is due Friday, May 8.

Principles of art Word Bank

Unity- Seeing the whole before the parts. This can be done by proximity, similarity, or continuation.

Pattern- When items repeat. It can be singular or sequenced.

Contrast- The differences between things; strong, sharp, soft, subtle.

Balance- The arrangement of the Elements; symmetrical, asymmetrical, or radial.

Movement- The direction your eye moves through the artwork; starts a focal point.

Emphasis- The focal point, the most important part of the artwork.

Rhythm- The visual beat, regular, irregular, stacatto
